FINANCE CHANNEL Paradigm
An isolated knowledge program or issue, looked after by a privileged few or not implemented by a real and open discussion, is a paradox in itself and will not survive for long. Knowledge-sharing is a way to achieve the goals in our personal or professional strategy. It's a tool. It's FINANCE CHANNEL's leading tool.
FINANCE CHANNEL Identity Card – Vision e Mission
We are a group, no matter if we are students, professors or professionals. We are open to everyone believing that sharing knowledge is a power, a common, strategical and absolutely free power. We all believe that only effective collaboration and communication which is spread across the whole community structure will give knowledge management the boost it really needs.
We believe that our collective expertise is an advantage and one of the most valuable assets in our management development and skills.
For us, sharing knowledge means creating a collaborative culture through communities of practice, professional networks that identify issues, share approaches, and make the results available to others.
FINANCE CHANNEL is, first of all, a community, a virtual group connected by interest and expertise in a specific discipline. Our main effort is to share what we know or have learned, become “real experts”, identifying critical areas and suggesting solutions. By learning, to succeed in growing together. Our contribution is enriched by research papers, technical briefings, product evaluations, and other reports. Our knowledge and yours is not only precious, an immense value, but it is crucial to gain success in this era in which information is a primary, the primary, product.
Our vision is to create a new scenario for knowledge management. Our mission is to let you help us in creating a sharing culture.

How to design and implement solutions for the management of enterprise risks by M. Giorgino, F. Travaglini - Il Sole 24 ORE S.p.A.

It is so even more nowadays in a financial and economic context that is becoming more global, complex and turbulent everyday. The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a structured and pro-active methodological approach to the management of all risks concerned with the enterprise activities management - strategy, market, processes, financial resources, human resources, technologies. This approach focuses on the future and is process-oriented, it helps organizations to manage risks in a systematic way and to identify opportunities. The first part of the book, more theorical, outlines a general overview of the Enterprise Risk Management, highlighting spurs, features, benefits, obstacles, organizational aspects and structuring of the risk management process - in the strict sense of the word. The second part, more practical, investigates organizational, strategical and operational structures, relevant to ERM, which have been peculiar to important italian groups: Edison, Fastweb e Fiat.

FINANCE CHANNEL Identity Card – Vision e Mission
Imparando, riuscire a crescere insieme.
Pronti a “condividere sapere”?

An overview on the evolution of Microcredit |
|
|
|
|
Written by Francesca Mazzieri, Microfinance Area Director
|
|
“Microcredit” is the word used in the common language to identify a micro-loan given to a poor.
The Microcredit spreads in the 80's in South-East Asia, Africa and Latin America. In the following decades it develops considerably and in 2005, proclaimed International Year of Microcredit, 110 millions of people all aver the world are reached by microcredit, with a predominant concentration in the developing countries where the number of poors is huge.
In 2006 Mr. Muhammed Yunus wins the Nobel Prize for Peace for the demonstration that Microcredit is a powerful and efficient tool for the development in countries, like Bangladesh, where a lot of entrepreneurs live without the possibility to obtain a loan from the traditional financial circuits because they are poor and they can't give collaterals.
Microcredit means the concession of small loans to different kinds of people, from extremely poor to vulnerable non poor, that are excluded from the formal system of credit. The concession of the loan is applied on the basis of the debtor's capability to repay the loan, on the quality of his business venture and on his reputation in the community where he lives in. To avoid possible phenomenon of default, the potential customer is chosen very carefully; if the client is late on the repayment of the loan, the loan officer will stress him to return the debt. The main purpose is to develop and spread the culture of the loan.
The loan can be given to individuals or groups. Groups can be more or less numerous; among the members of the group usually there is solidarity, trust and esteem, and they usually live in the same community. The individual loan requires a bigger need of collateral and the bigger loans are usually given to the most disciplinary customers. In particular the loan to women became a great success, because women are more honest and able to manage the family assets and their principal purpose is to improve the living condition of the family, the nutrition and the education of the children.
Now the word “Microfinance” is used in the common language: if Microcredit means a loan concession for the realization of little entrepreneurial activities, Microfinance means the set of financial services dedicated to low income customers. The most requested services are the savings, the micro-leasing, the credit and debt cards, the micro-insurances (life, health, theft, accident and natural disaster insurances).
Microfinance can give a special contribution for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, the 8 big commitments taken by the Governments of the 189 members of the United Nations to reduce poverty by 2015. These goals can be reached through the overtaking of the poverty line, the diversification of the incomes, the investments on the education, the women empowerment, the improvement of the condition of life, the attention to the environment protection, the adoption of strategic partnerships.
